On Sunday, August 16, 2026, at 3:00 p.m., Cherrydale United Methodist Church (CUMC) presents Ravita Jazz.
One of the Mid-Atlantic’s most versatile and sought-after bassists, Phil Ravita leads Ravita Jazz and appears with many other jazz and classical ensembles and orchestras. He has shared the stage with jazz greats such as Jimmy Heath, Bobby Shew, Claudio Roditi, and Ruby Glover, performing in countless clubs, concert halls, and festivals. He can be heard on numerous recordings. He won critical acclaim for his work on the group’s highly praised 2021 recording Jagged Spaces. In April 2023,Ravita Jazz released Oriana . In May 2025, the band released the critically acclaimed CD Alice Blue.
Cherrydale’s Sanctuary Choir sings every Sunday morning during our worship service.
Under the direction of Angie Shumway, the members of the choir are collaborating for the hymns on Sunday that we are also, able to hear and experience via zoom. We are privileged to have Lika (Elizabeth) Bozhich as our soloist for special music as well as members of our congregation who share their gift of music via playing instruments.
The choir performs anthems that range from classic to contemporary. Special music is presented at Christmas and Easter.
