Our Advent Theme: Theology of the Carol

Join us on Sundays for worship at 11:00 am in our Sanctuary. During worship throughout the Advent season, we will look closely at specific Christmas hymns and their theology (theology = study of God).

Advent Book Study taught by Bailey Jones – Tuesdays during Advent on Zoom

“The Carols of Christmas: A Celebration of the Surprising Stories Behind Your Favorite Songs” By Andrew Gant. Tuesday evenings from 7:00 – 8:00 pm, November 29, December 6, 13, 20 and Jan 3. Taught by Cherrydale UMC’s ministerial intern Bailey Jones. Books can be purchased for $20 from the church office or on Amazon. Email for the zoom link to the study. All are welcome!

Living Nativity – Sunday, December 4, 5:00 – 7:00  pm Church Lawn

Please join us for a special evening as we re-enact the night Jesus was born.

Live animals, kings, shepherds, angels, Mary, Joseph, and the sweet baby Jesus will all be there. Won’t you? It’s our 27th annual presentation with cider, cookies and cheer on the church lawn.

We are recruiting people of all ages for the above roles. We need adults for the Kings, Mary and Joseph. All roles are truly open to anyone. We suggest young children sign up for angels and shepherds. Please use the Sign Up Genius link below to sign up for a part/time slot:








Gingerbread House Decorating Competition – Friday, December 9, 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm Montgomery Hall

The Cherrydale Youth Group will be hosting a gingerbread house decorating competition for the Arlington Youth Collective. Families are welcome to participate! We will provide the gingerbread house and some of the decorating supplies for teams up to 6 persons. You are invited to bring more if you have a certain idea in mind. The price will be $20 per team and a portion of that will go to the youth collective’s mission. We are sure that this will be a fun community event! Special Christmas Music “How Christmas Came to Be” – Sunday, December 11  11:00 am  Sanctuary 

Please join the Sanctuary choir for the upcoming Christmas Cantata, “How Christmas Came to Be”, written by Rev. Dawn-
Marie Singleton. A wonderful Christmas Story with music and Narration, directed by Angelina Shumway, Mark Irchai, Piano, Maggie Ramsey, Soloist, and our exceptional guest musicians will be Denis Karp, Flute, and Hrant Parsamian, Cello. Invite your friends and family to join us in this festive musical event!

Santa’s Secret Shop for Children – Saturday, December 17 3 – 5 pm Montgomery Hall

This is an opportunity for your children to purchase gifts for parents, siblings and relatives (at child-friendly prices). Bring your friends and neighbors to shop, wrap purchases and enjoy some cocoa and cookies!

Donations of gift items can be left in the church office.

Christmas Eve Worship – Saturday, December 24 Sanctuary 

Family Worship Service 5:00 pm

Come support our youth and children as we open our hearts to the Christ child through the Christmas story. This service is perfect for those with young children.

Candlelight and Communion Service 9:00 pm

Come hear Rev. Dawn-Marie Singleton share her message of Christmas and end the evening with singing the solemn words of “Silent Night.”

Christmas Day Worship – Sunday, December 25 11:00 am Sanctuary 

Come as you are Worship – PJ’s are welcome! This will be a lowkey informal service. Take some time on Christmas morning to come to church and celebrate!   Hear the Christmas story once again and sing hymns of glad tidings as we proclaim that Jesus Christ is born!
