Seeking Joyfully * Growing Faithfully * Sharing God's Love

Sharing God's Love in the World:

Food for Others - Every first Sunday of each month, we donate staples and non-perishable food items to Food for Others, a private charity, which are then distributed to individuals and families.

Stop Hunger Now - The second Sunday in February, the congregation and members of our Boy Scout, Cub Scout, and Girl Scout Troops gather in the fellowship hall to package 30,000 relief meals.

Sandwich Sunday - Periodically, the church community gathers to make sandwiches to be distributed through Food For Others to people in need. Cherrydale members are invited to donate bread, bologna, and sliced cheese.

Plot Against Hunger Garden - Throughout the summer, members of the youth group tend a vegetable garden on the church grounds.  The fresh produce is donated to AFAC.

Vegetable Drop - In October, we purchase 10,000 pounds of produce from the Mid-Atlantic Gleaning Network and package it in mesh bags for distribution at a local food bank.

Other Projects -- Children, youth & adults join together for such projects as bagging vegetables for Arlington Food Assistance Center, participating in the CROP Hunger Walk in October, making Blessing Bags for the those in need in our area, and making Health kits for the Virginia Conference of the United Methodist Church to name just a few of the projects.
